Trauma-Informed Parenting is a supportive, heart-centered approach that helps parents and caregivers grow with greater confidence, compassion, and connection. It offers a safe and non-judgmental space to explore the joys and challenges of parenting, understanding your child’s behaviours, and discover strategies that nurture both your child’s development and your family’s overall well-being.
We may have sworn to ourselves before becoming a parent that we would do things differently than our own parents, yet find ourselves in similar power struggles, or saying things that we instantly regret. It may be that you are facing a particularly challenging situation, such as a medical diagnosis, divorce or separation, or perhaps your child has received a diagnoses you are trying to process. For those parenting children with an early-trauma history, the challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming and even insurmountable.
You don't have to navigate the challenges of parenting alone. Having a trusted source of support, guidance, and understanding can make a meaningful difference as you move through both the expected and unexpected moments of family life.
Through trauma-informed training, education, lived experience, and a deep understanding of the unique dynamics within each family, my goal is to walk alongside you; not to tell you how to parent, but to help you better understand your child, strengthen connection, and discover approaches that support your entire family.
Together, we can identify your family's specific needs, explore helpful resources, and develop supportive strategies that foster greater confidence, connection, peace, and joy within your family.

Conscious Parenting and Compassionate Inquiry
For caregivers who are navigating adoption, early trauma, or the unique realities of foster care, everyday challenges can feel even heavier, sometimes overwhelming.
In those moments, when your family is in crisis, there often isn’t the space to read another book or wait for the next workshop. Often what caregivers can use the most is someone who can listen and reflect with compassion, clarity, and care.
Together, we will explore what your child’s behaviors may be communicating, while honoring their unique story, experiences, and the dynamics that shape your family. Through a trauma-informed lens, we can work together to identify potential triggers, build greater understanding around emotional responses, and develop strategies that support connection, trust, and regulation.
My goal is to walk alongside you in creating practical, compassionate supports that feel realistic for your family—including tools for emotional regulation, strengthening attachment, navigating challenging moments, and developing a safety plan when needed. I’m here to provide guidance, encouragement, and resources as you build confidence in understanding and responding to your child’s needs with greater connection and hope.
BEFORE ADOPTION: Some families choose to begin support before placement, using this time to prepare for the unique experiences and challenges that may arise as they welcome a child into their family. This proactive approach can help families build a stronger foundation by exploring expectations, understanding trauma and attachment needs, and identifying supportive strategies before challenges occur.
Support can also include navigating conversations with well-meaning family members and friends who may not fully understand the complexities of adoption, attachment, grief, or your child's unique needs. Together, we can explore ways to advocate for your child, set healthy boundaries, and help your support network become a more informed and connected source of care for your family.
DURING ADOPTION TRAVEL: Some families choose to access support during their adoption trip to help navigate the many emotions and transitions that come with bringing a child home. These early days can bring a mix of excitement, uncertainty, exhaustion, and big adjustments for everyone involved. Having a supportive, knowledgeable person to talk with can provide reassurance and guidance as you work through concerns around transition, bonding, attachment, and your child's needs.
Together, we can identify areas of concern, better understand what your child may be communicating, and explore practical strategies to support your family through this important transition. The first few weeks after placement can be challenging, especially when everyone is tired, overwhelmed, and adjusting to a new family dynamic. Support can help you slow down, recognize what is happening beneath the surface, and create a thoughtful approach for moving forward with greater confidence, connection, and compassion.
POST ADOPTION: Others seek out a Parent Coach once they are home and their child has settled in a bit. It is common for adoptive and foster families to experience a "honeymoon period" in which the child seems to seamlessly transition, but as they begin to feel safe, display behaviours that surprise even the most experienced of adoptive families.
In other cases, the siblings may be struggling to adapt to this new "normal" and families require support to help everyone transition. Often the child will bond quickly to one caregiver, leaving the other with all kinds of feelings that are difficult (and yet crucial) to process.
Many families tell us they feel isolated after placement, as though the people around them don't fully understand the unique realities of adoption and foster care. At TMP, we believe that behavior is a child's way of communicating—and we also understand that learning to interpret that communication can sometimes feel like learning a new language.
Through both professional training and our own lived experiences, we understand many of the challenges families face during this journey. We are here to walk alongside you with compassion, practical support, and resources to help your family navigate the hard moments while building stronger connection, trust, and understanding.
