Donations and Support

Often our work takes us to places and communities in need of support and resources. Below are a few of the ways we've supported communities in South Africa, and projects we are working on for future development. Your donations can help make this possible!

EARLY YEARS CENTRE

...in partnership with Emmanuel's Wish Foundation

WHO are we serving?

  • New mothers living in the townships or informal settlements of KwaCofi, Ndaleni, Magoda and Pateni
  • These impoverished communities surrounding Richmond, KZN house those struggling with basic needs such as food and clean water. It is one of the poorest areas in South Africa
  • South Africa has one of the highest incident rates of intimate/domestic partner violence in the world.
  • A woman is most vulnerable to domestic partner violence during pregnancy and the first 6-months post-partum. Having a safe space women can seek resources and support may be life-saving.

WHY an Early Years Centre?

  • The first few years of life are crucial to a child’s development in every capacity – physically, socially, linguistically, emotionally, etc.
  • The infant/toddlers neurobiology is being developed and wired in these first years, which will alter the course of their lives.
  • Mothers who are stressed and struggle with daily necessities rarely have the emotional capacity to also provide loving, attuned and attached caregiving to their little ones.
  • The aftermath of apartheid and the ongoing HIV/AIDS pandemic has left a “parentless parent” generation - young mothers and fathers who did not have the opportunity to experience healthy, attuned and attached caregiving.
  • As rabbi Yehuda Berg once said, “Hurt people hurt people. That’s how pain patterns gets passed on, generation after generation after generation.”
  • By supporting, encouraging and providing compassionate listening, one parent at a time, we can help to alter those intergenerational patterns.

WHAT do you need to get started?

  • We need YOU!!!
  • DONORS: We are looking for donors to help with start-up costs totaling $2000CDN, as well as monthly sponsors to provide a total of $1000CDN for operational costs
  • FUNDRAISERS: A little tight on cash but still want to help? You can play a huge role in getting this program off the ground by starting a fundraiser of your own. Contact us for more information!
  • ITEMS: Families travelling to South Africa may consider bringing a second bag of donated items such as craft supplies, infant clothes, or items for our toy or book lending library! Contact us for a list of most needed items!

HOW will this help?

  • Bi-weekly drop-in where caregivers will be provided with snacks, tea/coffee and juice for the little ones
  • Circle time for songs and games to encouraged attuned and attached parenting
  • Community building through planting a community garden, cleaning up the local playground, etc.
  • A safe, clean space to meet other new moms, as well as access vital community resources (food parcel delivery, donated items, support/resources in the case of intimate partner violence)

Who We Are

Community Gardens

Food and Toiletries

Food and Toiletries

We've donated seeds, fruit trees, grow bags, compost, built chicken coops and (even donated live chickens!) alongside communities that are working on developing sustainable food sources. Your donations would help this project grow, and ensure the future generation of South Africa's children would have access to fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and protein sources.

Food and Toiletries

As food prices continue to rise, many families are struggling to provide even basic necessities and keep staples food items in the cupboard. This is particularly true in communities we work in. Your financial support would allow us to keep small bags of toiletries and food staples on hand to deliver to families in need.
